Hidden Figures: A Beautiful and Inspirational Movie and Some Other Things I Need To Say.

I know long time no blog but I'm blogging now. First blog of 2017 and just 3 days before my 29th birthday as well. Today, I saw the movie Hidden Figures and wow it was amazing! It was beautiful, emotional, inspirational, and so much more. WOC especially black women are some of the most strongest and bravest people on the planet and this is coming from a white, southern, girl. This is the type of stuff everyone should know about it. This is the type of stuff that should be taught in our schools. I will be the first one to admit that our history and entertainment is very whitewashed and that does not represent the true diversity and hardships of all Americans especially POC. Hidden Figures shows just how brilliant, brave, and strong WOC and POC are and have been through the years. They have fought and continue to fight every step of the way to get where they are now and that is something to be proud of and something we all need to learn. Some of the most brilliant minds behind getting us into space for the first time were black women and I love how this movie shows and tells their story that everyone needs to know about. If it weren't for them, I don't think we would have made it into space and we owe a great debt to them for what they accomplished. Diversity and representation and equality are beautiful things when they are shown and they need to be shown so much more. Seriously though, everyone please go see Hidden Figures so y'all can know the stories of these amazing women.

Now with that being said, I want to talk about something historic that happened last Saturday here in the US and all around the world. Women from every walk of life came together to march for Women's rights. I wish I would have known about the march in my city beforehand but unfortunately I did not know but I support this 100% being a woman myself. However, this shouldn't be just about us white women it needs to be about all women that is what intersectional feminism is all about including women of all races and backgrounds, making sure that we hear what they are saying and help to raise them up as well as ourselves. A lot of women don't think that we hear them but I do and a lot of others do too. It can't just be about us white women it has to be about all women. We need to help raise all women up not put them behind us but beside us. I've seen some articles published after the march aimed at us white women about intersectional feminism and I've seen some defensive comments about them when it's nothing to get defensive about, they are not trying to tear us down or divide us they just want us to hear them and include them and help them. Yes we are women and yes we have problems with sexism but we still have the privilege of being white and WOC don't have that they are at a double and sometimes triple or more disadvantage and that is not fair. They have a right to be scared hell we all do but they do more so. They want us to listen, learn, and understand what they go through so we can be better allies and friends to them and not talk over them we just need to listen for once it's not that hard. God gave us 2 ears and one mouth for a reason. I stand with ALL women, white, black, LGBTQ+, Muslim, Native American, Asian, Latino, Ect. No man is going to tell me what I can or can't do with MY body! I also have the BEST Idols in the world and all either marched with people or voiced their support. Lucy Hale, Jennifer Morrison, Melissa Benoist, Lana Parrilla, and Alyssa Milano are my amazing idols! We are women, we are strong, we are resilient, and we will resist!

Ever since the Cheeto-in-chief took office it seems like a nightmare movie or something that won't end. I am ashamed to be American right now. I swear not all American's support him or voted for him myself included as well as anyone I know and/or my idols. A lot of us stand with you. Our country was built on immigration. Unless you are full blood Native American, you are an immigrant. This ban is ridiculous and not what this country is about and I'm sorry to those affected and continue to be affected by this nightmare. This is just so bad and I fear it is just going to get worse and I am afraid for all of us not just us white women, but POC, WOC, LGBTQ+, Muslims, immigrants, Native Americans, Latino's and I know their fear is at least 10x worse than the rest of us. We just have to stay strong and resist. Hillary Clinton should have been President from the get go she won the popular vote by over 3 million votes and the electoral college specifically put in place so that people like the Cheeto-in-Chief can't take power let us down big time. It's all so scary and sad. I just hope we make it through this turmoil.

~Peace and much love to all~

I love you, Lucy Hale, Jennifer Morrison, Melissa Benoist, Lana Parrilla, and Alyssa Milano!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I hope each and every one of y'all had a great day filled with food, family, and fun! I got to spend my Thanksgiving at a beautiful beach house right on the beach here in VA Beach, VA! There is so much we should be grateful for not just on Thanksgiving but every day. Here's just some of the things/people I am grateful for!

I am grateful for my family of course and my amazing fiance Rob who I love more than anything in the world!

I am grateful for all of my friends! My best friends Sarah, Ellen, Lisa, Delphine, Asu, Jen, and Lippy!

I am grateful for my cats Angel and Mooch who I will see back home in Florida on Saturday night!

I am grateful for my wonderful water aerobics instructor and friend Annie!

I am grateful for my favorite youtube vloggers Madrosed! Maddie, Janet and the whole family! They give me something to look forward to watching everyday with their awesome vlogs and their Saturday night live show just about every Saturday night as well!

I am grateful for my idols Lucy Hale, Alyssa Milano, Jennifer Morrison, Lana Parrilla, Melissa Benoist and many others for always giving me a reason to smile and hold on even when I don't feel like I can keep going. I love them all so much!

I am grateful for my favorite shows Pretty Little Liars, Once Upon A Time, Supergirl, Quantico, and many others for being a source of comfort and happiness and giving me something to be passionate about!

I am grateful to have God in my life and to wake up every morning and be healthy and to have food and a roof over my head and clothes to wear.

I am grateful to be on the beach right now and to be able to hear and see the ocean waves right outside of my window.

I am grateful for the little things life that bring the most happiness!

Those are just some of the most important things/people to me that I am grateful for. There are so many people who have less than we all do and we should be grateful for all we have each and everyday not just on Thanksgiving. The state of this country is sad and frightening right now and we need healing, love, hope, peace, and strength more than anything right now. I pray that we all make it through these next four years no matter what happens.

So enjoy this Thanksgiving and all that y'all are thankful for and remember to pass along a smile to someone you never know how much that could mean to someone and also give back when you can as well.

My Thoughts on this Horrendous Election

I have not blogged in a very long time I know but I had to blog about this mess of an election tonight. I just don't get it. I sit here shocked and speechless as I type this. It seems as though hate has won in this country and it sickens me. It's so sad and I don't know what to think. I am terrified of this outcome, not just for me but for all the women, non-whites, LGBTQ+, Muslims, ect in this country. I am terrified of what this could bring us and I am ashamed to be an American and a Floridian right now. Proud of my home state of Virginia though. This happened right before the holidays too.

This election has brought out so much closeted hate, bigotry, intolerance, violence and I am terrified that is just going to get worse now. I am terrified for the world. I feel hopeless at this point and I don't know what else to do but pray. I never in all my years ever imagined something so terrifying that could happen. I don't know what is going to happen from here and for the next 4 years all I do know is that there are still good loving people here in the US and even though our voices became drowned out by the hatred and bigotry we are still here and we will never give up the fight. We may be down now but we will never be out. We can't let hate win. We can't give into fear. We have to continue to fight for what is right no matter what happens. There is still love out here. I promise you not all of us white people voted for that orange monster I know I didn't and neither did my fiance Rob who's birthday is today actually and neither did all my idols.

I can't believe this really happened even though it's not over yet it's still surreal to me. How so many people can support such hatred, racism, sexism, xenophobia, homophobia, transphobia, ect is beyond me. This just shows how much hatred is still rooted here in the US and it's frightening and sad. We are one people, one planet, and we can't even come together to make things better for everyone. I was really hoping to see our first female president get elected tonight. Even though I am terrified right now all I can do is pray. I will pray for a miracle, pray for a better outcome, pray for love, pray for peace, pray for anything to help this disaster.

The only thing I can think of right now that brings some form of comfort right now is one of my favorite shows Once Upon A Time and 2 of my favorite characters Snow White and her daughter Emma Swan. Before Emma was born, Snow White had a bounty for her heart from the Evil Queen (Regina) because as a girl she told Cora (Regina's mom) about Regina's love Daniel and Cora killed him and ever since then Regina wanted Snow White dead basically but Snow White is a Princess she has her kingdom to run and even while on the run she was always there for her people. She protected them and found her true love with David and had Emma but of course the curse forced them to send Emma to our world through the cabinet. Emma is the savior and is always there for everyone. She protects those she loves the most. She and her parents and Regina who is amazing now save their town on the daily from villains and dark ones. It makes me believe that love conquers all and that good will always win. Just thought I'd throw that in there.

So, enjoy the holidays coming up as best as you can because come January which happens to be my birthday month unfortunately we could have an orange monster as our next president even though I will never consider him my president.

We Need More Love In Our World!

This is the first blog post I have done here in a long time I know but recent events have made me feel like I need to blog and share my thoughts. Our world and my country (USA) is headed down a very scary path right now. There is so much tension, division, hate, violence and it needs to stop. Nobody is born full of hate, hate is taught. There are good people and bad people in every race, sexuality, religion ect. Labeling an entire group of people based on the actions of a few bad people of said group just causes more problems and hate. We need to come together and listen to each other. We need less judgement and more acceptance. Answering violence and hate with violence and hate is never the answer. STOP spreading hate and START spreading more love to EVERYONE!

To my fellow white and cis straight people, White and Straight privilege does exist. It has always existed. We all need to acknowledge that it does exist. Being able to walk down the street and not be targeted, beat up, or even killed because of our race or sexuality is White and Straight privilege. Being able to hold hands and kiss our SO's without judgement is Straight privilege. This doesn't mean that we don't have our own unique struggles and hardships because we do, this just means that our hardships are usually not due to our race and sexuality. We are the majority in society. We are seen as normal, beautiful, and who everyone should be. We have representation every day. We don't need a White Pride or Straight Pride because that is everyday for us. We are not oppressed because of our race and sexuality. We will never understand what it's like to be a minority in society, but we can empathize with everyone, we can listen to everyone, and we can acknowledge that certain privileges do exist and that we benefit from them and probably always will. We can be allies. We can stand in solidarity with everyone. We can lift others up who need it most. Everyone deserves to be treated with dignity and respect. Everyone deserves equal rights. Everyone deserves to tell their stories and be represented by people who look like them. Everyone deserves love and kindness. It doesn't always have to be about us white and straight people and that is ok. It is really ok. We need to let others have their chance to shine and be seen. I always say if all lives really do matter then there wouldn't be a need for Black Lives Matter and Gay Lives Matter ect.

It does scare me however reading peoples comments about killing all white people and/or straight people though. We are not all bad and hateful. Most of us are loving and peaceful. We need to learn to not judge a book by it's cover. Our world is spiraling to a very a bad place and it scares me. We need gun control. We need more love and kindness. We need more acceptance. ALL love is beautiful. ALL skin colors are beautiful. ALL sexualities are beautiful. ALL genders are beautiful. EVERYONE is beautiful in our own ways.

Amidst all the tragedy, hate, and violence, there are some people in my life that give me hope, make me smile, and make me happy. My fiance Rob, my friends, and my idol Lucy Hale! Lucy is a bright light in this scary world for me and so many others. Listening to her sing, watching her on PLL, and seeing her instagram pictures and tweets instantly makes me smile. I love you more than you will ever know Lucy, you give me hope that this world is not all bad and that it can get better for everyone!

My Light in the darkness, Lucy Hale!

I hope everyone has people like I do in their lives to give them hope that not everything is bad. I also turn to music in these hard and scary times. Here are just a few of my favorite songs that inspire me and give me hope to hang on:

There are many more songs that lift me up during hard times but these are just a few of my top favorites. Enjoy each one and I hope they uplift you the way they uplift me.

The Importance Of Idols (My First Blog Post of 2016)

Yes this is my first blog post of 2016. I've been busy and haven't had anything that I wanted to talk about until now.

So, I wanted to talk about the importance of idols in all of our lives because of an incident that happened with mine on her instagram a few days ago. We all have our idols. Mine is Lucy Hale. Idols help us get through tough times, they inspire us to do good and be better, they show us that everything will be ok and that not everything is bad, they make us smile when we feel we can't, and they are the friend that we need when no one else is there for us whether they know it or not. Idols are important to all of us.

A couple days ago, Lucy posted this adorable picture on her instagram:

Lucy was just holding this adorable bunny who happened to be a shade of purple. She was just giving it some love which is what we are supposed to do for animals and everyone. Anyway, as soon as she posted this picture, the hate started flowing from self promclaimed Vegans saying that Lucy was abusing that bunny because it was purple. So many saying animal abuse and others calling her an idiot and stupid for posting the picture, saying that they were unfollowing her and that she was a bad example to others. Then when Halers started to try and defend Lucy they got jumped all over by the haters. They were calling them stupid, idiots, obsessed, need to get a life, just because they were defending their Idol. Like the haters don't have idols themselves. This made me so mad. I posted my own picture of support for Lucy in response to all of this. It didn't get many likes at all for some reason which made me a little sad. The picture was part of a poem I wrote called "I am a Haler" and I thought more Halers would have been interested but I guess not but oh well I stated my support and love for Lucy no matter what and that's all that matters to me. I wish more people would have wanted to read my poem but nothing I can do about that. Anyway, I don't understand why or who would hate someone so sweet as Lucy? She is the best Idol I could have ever wanted. I will be turning 28 on this upcoming Sunday January 31st but I don't care how old I am I will always love and support Lucy.

All of this hate made me so sad and mad. It had me feeling like this:

It was just so uncalled for. Lucy would NEVER EVER hurt anyone or any animal. She's the sweetest, most kind hearted, loving, beautiful inside and out. She's a great role model and idol for everyone. I love Lucy so much and it kills me that she may never know just how much I love her and how much she means to me. I never got the chance to let her know when I met her almost 2 years ago.

Anyway, there is no reason to bash on anyone's idols. You never know what a person is going through and their idol maybe the only reason they are alive right now as one of my all time favorite quotes says:

Lucy didn't and doesn't deserve any of the hate that she gets. We need more people like Lucy in our world. I would be willing to bet that even that haters have idols that they look up to so hating on Lucy who happens to be so many people's idol including mine is just not funny at all and not something anyone should do. Idols have a very important purpose in all of our lives and our hearts. They are special and precious to us. Idols are important to everyone no matter who we are, where we're from, how old we are, and what have you, our idols are important to us. You are NEVER too old to have an idol and you are NEVER too old to be a fangirl or fanboy either!

I love you so much Lucy! You mean more to me than you will ever know but I hope someday I will get to tell you just how much you mean to me. You have helped me hold on through so many tough times in my life and you will always have a special place in my heart and my life!

It's fall again and that means new fall shows. Three new shows in particular I love!!! Supergirl, Code Black and Quantico!!! Everyone should check these shows out!!!

Supergirl just premiered this past Monday night and it was AMAZING!!! Melissa Benoist plays Supergirl aka Kara who is Superman's cousin. It's so much female empowerment and shows we can all be our own Supergirl's in our own ways!!! I will keep watching this show for as long as it is on!!! Watch Supergirl every Monday night at 8 pm on CBS!

The second show I love that everyone should check out is Code Black!! Code Black is about the busiest hospital in LA. They deal with every kind of emergency imaginable. Code Black will keep you on the edge of your seat the whole episode through and has so many feels! If you love medical dramas you will love Code Black!! Watch Code Black every Wednesday night at 10 pm on CBS!!!

My third show that I love right now is Quantico! Quantico is about a class of FBI recruits training at Quantico to become FBI agents and one of them Alex Parrish played by the amazing Priyanka Chopra wakes up in the ruins of Grand Central Station that has been bombed by a terrorist and the FBI thinks that Alex did. They found bomb making material in her apartment and she was found in the ruins of the attack. The FBI are trying to find her and bring her in until they get the order to take her out now. She is in hiding trying to prove her innocence. She has been set up by one of her fellow recruits since the day the arrived at Quantico. This show is thrilling from beginning to end!! My Thoughts on the Don't Judge Challenge, the Confederate flag controversy, Gay Marriage becoming legal here in the US, and the Women's World Cup Finals!

I wanted to talk about a few topics that are in the spotlight recently. First being the Don't Judge Challenge on Twitter.

The Don't Judge Challenge was started and trended on Twitter by mostly teenagers who had a good idea actually but they did it all wrong. They were trying to show that no matter what you look like you shouldn't be judged but what they did was use make up on themselves to paint on fake pimples, uni brows, big lips, and they put on glasses. They considered that look to be the "ugly" look and then the next thing you see in their videos is them looking like themselves basically all done up and smiling and they considered that "attractive" or "beautiful". The problem was most of these videos the teens in them when they looked "beautiful" they mostly were beautiful or attractive to the standards of society and there is nothing wrong with how they looked but they way they classified what society thinks is "ugly" at first in their videos is what some people actually look like and they can't help it. Like me, I wear glasses and still get pimples and I can't help it. I have had eye problems my whole life and when I see those videos, it doesn't particularly make me feel too good about myself and other people like me. We have self esteem and body issues in society today because of things like the Don't Judge Challenge. There were some people who did the challenge right though. Some people started out looking good with make up on and everything and then they still looked good with no make up on. Basically, everyone is beautiful in their own way. Nobody is perfect and nobody is ugly. I am blessed to have an idol like Lucy Hale who believes all of her Halers are beautiful inside and out just like she is. She lifts us up and would never tell anyone that they are ugly or not good enough. I love Lucy so much! Don't let anyone make you feel like you are ugly and worthless because you are beautiful and have so much worth. Don't let a challenge make you feel bad because you have to wear glasses like me or have a face with acne or any other things. Everyone has flaws but everyone is beautiful despite those flaws you just have to believe it yourself. Also, the people who started the Don't Judge Challenge need to learn how to spell challenge. They spelled it Challange and it trended that way too. How did nobody catch that? Just wondering. Anyway, that's my thought on the Don't Judge Challenge.

Second topic to be discussed is the Confederate flag controversy. The Confederate flag was the flag of the South during the Civil War. Some people see it as southern heritage or pride others see it as offensive and racist. I can see both sides. I grew up in rural Virginia, the Confederate flag was widely seen and considered normal so I never personally saw a problem with it. Since the tragic shootings of 9 African Americans in Charleston, SC people have been calling for the flag to be removed the state government grounds in Columbia and just today the senate there voted for it's removal. Now the decision rests with the house there. I do hope it eventually gets taken down. We need to move on from that horrible past. Keep the flags in museums or on your own personal property. I didn't like how some people were blaming us white people for the slavery that happen back before and during the Civil War. It isn't fair to blame us for something our ancestors were responsible for. We can't change history. The past is the past. We don't have a time machine or a DeLorean to go back in time and change things. We weren't even thought of yet then when all that took place so blaming us for all that happened then is wrong. Not all white people are racists and bad and neither are all African Americans or any other race/ethnicity for that matter. Racism is alive and well in today's society and as long as there are people who live in the past and won't change they way they think or what they believe no matter what, then racism will always be a part of society and it is sad. Everyone should be treated with kindness and respect. No one should be judged on the color of their skin or anything. White Privilege is also huge in our society today. I truly believe that it does exist and I would never deny it and it's sad. All those who complain that we need a "White Appreciation" day need to stop and realize that that is everyday just watch your TVs and look at pictures in magazines and the Internet. White people are considered the most beautiful and most wanted and it's sad. Everyone is beautiful and everyone should be wanted no matter what color we are. Anyway, I hope the flag gets taken down in South Carolina. There is a person across the street from me who has a flag pole in their backyard now with the Confederate flag flying. I hope nothing bad happens because of that. I do believe however that everyone should be allowed to fly whatever flag they want on their own properties though. That's how I feel about the whole Confederate flag controversy.

Third, I want to talk about Gay Marriage being made legal here in the US by the Supreme Court! I believe it is awesome that Gay Marriage is now legal. Also, I am proud to be an Episcopalian because a couple days ago, The Episcopalian church voted overwhelmingly to allow Gay Marriages to be preformed in our churches! ALL are welcome in the Episcopal church! Love is love and everyone deserves to be happy and love who they want and to celebrate their love with marriage. Just because you don't understand it doesn't mean it's bad. When I tell y'all the bible thumpers came out when this happened boy, they were saying all Gays were going to go to Hell and everyone who supported them was going to go to Hell also. When Lucy Hale posted her support of Gay Marriage people were going off in her Instagram comments and it was really sad to see. I felt bad for Lucy because she had to see that. She loves everyone and so does God. Gay people, straight people, we're all people who love other people be it the same sex or the opposite sex. Love is love and everyone should be able to celebrate their love!
Lastly, I wanted to talk about the incredible Women's World Cup finals the other night. Our ladies did us so proud and brought the cup back to the USA! Congrats ladies on a very well deserved championship. They have inspired other women and girls to go for their dreams and never give up. They are true good role models! We need good role models like the USWNT in our society and world because sexism is very real and it does exist whether people want to believe it or not. It's sad that sexism still exists. It's sad that us females are judged on how we looked and seen as sexual objects which we are not. We are not just here to birth babies, cook, and clean. This is not the 1950's and/or times before that anymore. This is the 21st century where we females can be who and what we want but we still face sexism and it's sad but the USWNT gives us hope and inspires to never give up on our dreams. You go Girls!!! They are a true example of Girl Power!!

So, those are my opinions on those topics. I wanted to try and end with positive topics. Remember, these are just my opinions. Everyone is allowed their opinions whether we agree with them or not. People need to learn how to state their opinions without being rude and offensive.

~Peace and Love~
