First I want to say that these are my opinions on various topics and they are just that opinions. Everyone is allowed to have them whether you agree with someone or not that doesn't give you the right to be mean and nasty to someone with differing opinions.
I want to share my opinions on some things that have been happening lately. Just so y'all know I am a white female and I see many comments on different articles from other white people thinking that they know what POC's go through concerning their race and we don't know. We have always been the majority and there has been white privilege for so very long. POC's have always been treated differently so for us we have no idea what it's like and we have no right to say that we do. That being said, the riots lately in Ferguson, Missouri and just tonight in Baltimore, Maryland are not the way to go. Destroying your communities because you are rightfully angry will not accomplish any positive forward movement. The police brutality is out of control and needs to be dealt with but there are many good cops out there as well. Positive, peaceful protests are the way to go. People are rightfully angry but they are going off their emotions rather than rational thinking and when people do that, they do things that they will regret. People need to stop letting their emotions control them. We need change throughout our whole country but violence and destruction is never the answer. It's really sad what has been happen and what will continue to happen until positive change can be brought forward. Also, yes we to see each other as we are, our defining characteristics, I am white, others are POC's, Asian, Hispanic but we shouldn't judge each other based on other colors of our skin, acknowledge it yes, judge solely on it, no. I judge people on their character, I give people the benefit of the doubt to be good people. Don't assume that because they are POC's that they are automatically thugs and bad because that is not true. Just like not all white people are bible thumping racists. I don't like stereotypes. Stereotypes lumps whole groups of people into one judgement and it irritates me. All southerns in the US are not bible thumping racists. Anyway, that's just my thoughts on that particular situation. There are good people everywhere and in all groups too!
So, this past Friday, Bruce Jenner had a 2 hour interview with Diane Sawyer about being a Transgender Female. I applaud him for standing up and speaking out about what it's like and how hard it is. I am a straight female so I can only imagine how hard it is for the LGBT community to deal with that everyday. People are so mean and judgemental today. God loves everyone no matter POC, White, Hispanic, Asian, Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Straight, or Transgender. People don't just choose to be a certain way, it's just how each one of us feels and who we are attracted it to. Just like us straight people are attracted to the opposite sex, Gays and Lesbians are attracted to people of the same sex. Love is Love no matter what and everyone deserves to be happy and to be able to express who they are and love who they want to love without being judged, hated, tormented and driven to suicide. When I have kids with my Fiance someday, I will be proud of them no matter what they choose to do or who they are and people using the bible to defend their ridiculous opinions just need to sit down and shut up. Don't use the Bible as a weapon that's not it was put on this earth to be used for. Religion can be good and bad. Some Religions can and do have cults in them and it's sad that people are brainwashed to believe certain things and that they have to be a certain way. I believe in God, I am Episcopalian, and I believe that God loves everyone and that we should at least learn to respect one another, we obviously don't have to accept everything but what people do in their lives that makes them happy like Bruce, then that is their business and it doesn't affect the rest of us in any way. My Idol, Lucy Hale actually posted a picture on her Instagram of her watching Bruce Jenner's interview and I just love her. She's so loving, accepting, caring, and sweet but so many people were so mean to Lucy on her Instagram and I broke down in tears it hurt me that people were calling her names and being mean. It was uncalled for. We need more people like Lucy in our world. Our world is so sad these days. I love you Lucy, I am such a proud Haler and always will be! I will love you to infinity and beyond!! You are my Idol, Inspiration and Role Model!! You make me smile everyday and I can't thank you enough for being so sweet and for your music that has helped me get through tough times. I thank God for bringing you into my life!!! Anyway, that's what I have to say about that.
On the matter of Feminism. I agree with it to a point. I am a female and I can't stand sexism. I can't stand that fact that we women are treated as sex objects and are constantly shown images on how we should look and if we don't look a certain way then we are ugly and unwanted and it's just not true. We are all beautiful! Yes it is true I am overweight but I am working on it. I am engaged to a wonderful man though! We women are so much more then just body images and sex objects. We are strong, beautiful, smart, and can achieve anything a man can! When I said I agreed with Feminism to a point I meant that it's a good idea and I support those for it that are for equality and not man bashing. Bashing or hating people never gets a point across. A lot of men are actually good, caring people it's just some that are misogynistic pigs. We women can help make the world a better place we just need more places and chances to show what we are made of and not be told that we can't just because we are female! So that about sums up my opinions on some modern issues. I am on the side of love, peace, and acceptance or at least dignity and respect for all. We all deserve that. We all deserve to be happy and loved no matter who or what we are. We need more love in this world and less hate. We need more positive role models like Lucy Hale in this world to guide us on the right path. Volunteer, smile at someone, just be nice to one another. Life's too short to be anything but happy!
Remember these are just my opinions no offense intended for anyone!
~Peace and Love~
